Leaving Skagway
We have spent the day doing a few last minute things and saying good bye to all our new friends. We took a train ride and we took a tour of a gold rush era brothel. Then we said goodbye to Cindy in the book store, Rain and Peter in the Ranger station and Jordan, my favorite bar tender who makes the BEST long island ice tea!
Farewell Skaway! See you soon!
Train ride
We are taking a train ride from Skagway to Lake Bennett in British Columbia (or maybe Yukon territory). Good times.

After a long day of travel on Saturday, we spent the night in Juneau and flew to Skagway on Sunday morning. We arrived in Skagway about 9:30 and Ashley and Stimee ran out to meet us on the tarmac! It was so great to hug my girl!! We met Stimee and it was like we have always known him. He is a nice person and he knows everything about Skagway and he knows everONE in Skagway! Our luggage made it to Skagway but our backpacks didn't. We ended up getting them later on Sunday. I was worried because my computer, cameras, kindles, and other assorted gadgetry were in our backpacks. Turned out they were marked "Haines" instead of "Skagway". Like Stimee says, "No drama".
Sunday we went on a driving tour of Skagway and Dyea. I had almost forgotten how beautiful it is here.
Yesterday we hung out in Skagway. We saw Ashley's talk on the routes to the gold rush and we participated in her walking tour. That was fund. Of course the highlight of the day was when I locked Ashleys' keys in her car. No drama. Stimee just broke into her car and got them out. Now I understand why Ashley calls him McGiver.
More later....gotta run.

Welcome to Dulles. Too bad we had to go south before going west. Looking forward to the 6 hour flight to Seattle. NOT|

Here we go again! We leave for Alaska on Saturday, June 5, 2010 and we will be in Skagway until Friday, June 18. We have lots of plans for hikes and excursions and I plan on posting photos and narrative as often as possible. Hopefully almost every day.
